Commencement of construction of green hydrogen plant in Tra Vinh
On the morning of March 30, TGS Tra Vinh Green Hydrogen Joint Stock Company held the ground-breaking ceremony of Tra Vinh green hydrogen factory in Dong Hai commune, Duyen Hai district.

Tra Vinh green hydrogen factory project has a total investment of nearly 8,000 billion VND. The factory was built in Dong Hai commune, Duyen Hai district, in Dinh An economic zone, on a land area of about 21 hectares. This is the largest-scale hydrogen production project today and the first green hydrogen production project from renewable energy to be invested in Vietnam.

The project produces hydrogen from electrolysis of seawater, the project's technology is that electricity is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. The generated hydrogen can be stored as a liquid gas, suitable for use in many fields and easily transported. It is expected that after the project is completed and put into operation, the plant will reach an output of 24,000 tons of hydrogen/year, 195,000 tons of oxygen/year, creating jobs for 300-500 workers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that the production of green hydrogen from renewable energy has been oriented to develop according to the development strategy of Vietnam's chemical industry. In recent years, green hydrogen is expected to be the energy source of the future, the key to the world's energy transition strategy towards sustainable, environmentally friendly trends.

The investment in the Tra Vinh green hydrogen production plant project is an important milestone in the process of greening energy sources in the spirit of Resolution 55 of the Politburo on the national energy development strategy to 2030. vision to 2045 and implement Vietnam's strong commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 at COP 26.

In order for the project to be implemented on schedule, ensuring quality and efficiency, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade proposed the investor to closely coordinate with ministries and local agencies, complete necessary procedures, and start construction soon. remaining items of the project; have proactive solutions on renewable power supply to ensure the investment progress and the safe and stable operation of the project. During the construction and operation of the project, it is recommended that the investor strictly implement the regulations on construction investment, focusing on chemical safety, occupational safety and health, environmental protection, limiting minimize the impact on the lives of people in the area. He also suggested the province create conditions for investors to implement the project, speeding up the project's progress.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that the investor concentrate all their resources on implementing the project construction to ensure that it stays on schedule, strictly adheres to environmental standards, and guarantees the quality and safety of the project. They should also prioritize training and recruiting workers with one rule: “What could be done by the locals will be done by the locals.”

Furthermore, he urged the relevant provincial departments, agencies, and the Duyen Hai District People's Committee to cooperate in supporting and creating the best possible conditions for the investors in terms of project implementation, related procedures, safety, security, order, etc. This will aid in the timely completion of the project and ensure it is operational soon.

The groundbreaking ceremony for this project also marks a turning point in the province's investment promotion, particularly in the Dinh An economic zone. The Chairman of the Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee hopes that today's delegates and businesses will serve as a bridge to attract investment to Tra Vinh in the near future.
