Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tra Vinh Province organized to release 800,000 common tiger prawns and sea crabs to Co Chien River to regenerate aquatic resources on Apr 1st.

This is an annual activity of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tra Vinh Province on the occasion of Vietnam's traditional fishing day to contribute to regeneration of aquatic resources, protect the living environment, balance natural ecosystem, and also call for community raising awareness in protecting aquatic resources.

Tra Vinh is a coastal plain province located between Tien and Hau Rivers. It is known as a locality with rich and diverse aquatic and marine resources, as an income source for more than half of the population of the province. Currently, the whole province has 1,200 boats, ships exploiting aquatic product with a total capacity of 160,000 CV. In 2019, the province exploited 82,000 tons of aquatic product, including 11,000 tons of inland fishery and 71,000 tons of seafood.
